What are some top notch video editing software?

i am editing videos i do it for fun and also for a class. i have people that want me to do music videos for them and also some other videos too. What are some free or not to expensive video editing software that would be perfect for that type of thing?

You can use software like MS movie maker,it’s free but too limited.
I used to use Adobe After Effects and DVD slideshow builder,Adobe is kinda complicated and DVD
slideshow builder is better for amateur both of them are nice and contains kinds of video effects and built-in editing tools.

Windows movie maker isn’t so bad and would be fine for a school project plus its free.
You could look into a cheap version of Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier Elements:

Well, if you want something free, you’re pretty much stuck with Windows Movie Maker. You’re not going to find anything better for free.
If you have a Mac, don’t rule out iMovie, but Sony Vegas 9 would work.
If you have a Mac: iMovie or (if you have some money to spend) Final Cut Express
PC: Windows Movie Maker/Windows Live Movie Maker should do fine for a small school project. If you have a lot of money to spend try Sony Vegas.
