Since starting to make videos, I sometimes used an MP3 player to record sounds and voice parts particularly if doing split screen. You can record one part and play it back through an earpiece when recording the second part so you can time it properly. Since I gave my MP3 away to my elderly neighbour I missed this. Then I came accross Tekhseven’s excellent video on how to use your mobile phone as a wireless microphone. I’ll show you how to use the captured audio in Sony Vegas to match up and synch with your video although any editing program should be the same. I use bluetooth facility to send the recorded voice clips from the phone to my laptop. www.youtube.com
I have a Sony DCRTRV900 and I used to have a Sony laptop as well with video editing software and Adobe Premier. The computer is old so I need to connect it to a new computer. Is there a firewire to usb cable? And if I use a program like Premier will it control the camera or how do I just import videos and then save or edit? Also, is this camera even worth using anymore? I remember it was about 00 new, but I’m sure you can buy something new for a lot less.
Do you have to pay for every single Video editing software? because i wanted to download Adobe after effects CS3 but that’s like 99$ so then i tried Sony Vegas 8.0 turns out you have to pay for that!

i have a dvd handycam and apparently i need sony software to transfer the video onto my comp and i cant use movie maker for editing. i was thinking of just getting a basic version of the Sony Vegas software.
is there anything comparable but free or very cheap that will work with these video files? i dont need anything real fancy and i dont want to mess with converters to try to convert the files to something readable by windows movie maker.
I got Sony Vegas 7 when my Dad bought a HD camera, and I have found it a very useful tool, especially when making videos for youtube. I made this tutorial on how to make a video using the programme as a bit of an experiment. It’s a nice change from Source SDK tutorials and this video would actually help my MUM if she wasn’t better at using this programme than I was. However, I’m sure there are plenty of other Mums out there who need helping when it comes to putting holiday clips on the internet- as well as thousands of people trying to make the next big computer game movie. This tutorial only shows the basics, I don’t like to over complicate tutorials, especially when people are finding a programme intimidating enough to use in the first place. I may make more, depending on how this video is received. RENDER TYPES 256 kbps – renders at 320 x 240, it’s also fuzzy and blocky, but will be fine for normal camera footage. Sound is also slightly muffled. But you can make a 10 minutes film about 10 mb in size, so it’s useful. 512 kbps – Double the size of 256 kbps, but it’s slightly sharper and the sound is much clearer. 3 mbps – 6 times larger than 512 kbps, but the quality is far better. It’s actually clearer than television footage, and I would recommend it for computer game recordings and HD footage when you’re not really that bothered with the quality. 4.2 / 5 / 6 mbps – 1280 x 720 resolution, also known as 720p, also used with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games.
