Sony Vegas Video Editing Tutorial

I got Sony Vegas 7 when my Dad bought a HD camera, and I have found it a very useful tool, especially when making videos for youtube. I made this tutorial on how to make a video using the programme as a bit of an experiment. It’s a nice change from Source SDK tutorials and this video would actually help my MUM if she wasn’t better at using this programme than I was. However, I’m sure there are plenty of other Mums out there who need helping when it comes to putting holiday clips on the internet- as well as thousands of people trying to make the next big computer game movie. This tutorial only shows the basics, I don’t like to over complicate tutorials, especially when people are finding a programme intimidating enough to use in the first place. I may make more, depending on how this video is received. RENDER TYPES 256 kbps – renders at 320 x 240, it’s also fuzzy and blocky, but will be fine for normal camera footage. Sound is also slightly muffled. But you can make a 10 minutes film about 10 mb in size, so it’s useful. 512 kbps – Double the size of 256 kbps, but it’s slightly sharper and the sound is much clearer. 3 mbps – 6 times larger than 512 kbps, but the quality is far better. It’s actually clearer than television footage, and I would recommend it for computer game recordings and HD footage when you’re not really that bothered with the quality. 4.2 / 5 / 6 mbps – 1280 x 720 resolution, also known as 720p, also used with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games. It’s not the

@irepbmore its the same thing its just in movie make it says publish

@irepbmore Publish, compile, render, what ever you want to call it. It means that you render the video using your computer’s memory to make it into a different size or quality from the original. It also pieces the bits of video together.

Which format does the video, you want to edit, have to?
    I mean for example avi,wmv, mp4, mpg.. ?
i hope you know what i mean xD

  5. 3kliksphilip says:

@anskiiundniinL I don’t understand. Sony Vegas supports a wide range of video formats, both importing and exporting. But not as many as Nero Vision.

i downloade my videos from Youtube.. and i’ve to choose the format.
and in these videos have the wrong format, which means i’ve no complete video
just the sound.. and i need both xD

@anskiiundniinL flv files don’t work in Vegas. OH NO! Either record the video using HYPERCAM (Bad idea) or use Nero Vision, which does work.

    3. how is with gif images

  12. 3kliksphilip says:

    @sofitssofi

    1) Right click on the video clip you want the effect to apply to, choose Media FX. The rest should be straight-forward.
    2) Make what in a video?
    3) Gif images can be placed just like anything else, I just tried.

Hey does any body know how to add a picture to the baack of video , like make the video play in the middle and picture stays still in the back.

  15. 3kliksphilip says:

@TrafalgarLawRifaMota Make a new video track by dragging the picture onto the timeline. Try below the video one, and it should be shown in the background. If it’s in front, then try moving the track to above the movie one.

  16. TrafalgarLawRifaMota says:

@3kliksphilip when i put the image nothing shows up :( idk what im doing wrong
the track says i have the image but i cant see it in the preview

  17. 3kliksphilip says:

@TrafalgarLawRifaMota Perhaps something else is in the way. Or you haven’t got the preview window showing the correct part of the video. Which image file is it? Try changing it.
