Low Cost Video Movie Editing Tutorial ( Magix )

How to make video movies with green screen and many video and audio effects cheaply. There are many cheap and even some free video editors that have more features than Windows Movie Maker. This ten minute tutorial shows some effects that are available with Magix Movie Edit Pro 2004, which is no longer available. There are newer versions of Magix video editors and other brands of video editors which have some of the same effects. If you are a beginner, this will tell you what to search for when you want features. There are some artifacts and glitches in the green screen scenes caused by the yellow shirt that has a tendency to have green shadows. I had to overcompensate to adjust the shirt green coloring and I had to opt between the shirt disappearing or the background having a lot of green smudge. In future vids I will use different colors and different lighting for the green screen shots.

I have completed a video with Magix 12 but I can’t figure out how to publish it as a file I can upload online. How did you do that?

  7. Featureman says:

I almost always use wmv file format for my videos. Go to the FILE link in the upper left of MAGIX and click EXPORT TO and when the choices come up choose WINDOWS MEDIA. In that dialog box I recommend 1280 X 720 video 16/9 with 48K sound. You can use smaller sizes but the video will not be as sharp when you upload to YouTube. The resulting file will have a wmv extension. That can be uploaded. A 5 minute video would have about 50 MB in size. It would take about 45 minutes to upload with DSL.

I do not know of any free downloads, but they do have downloadable software at their site. It might be available at tucows or other download sites. Amazon might have a link or info.

You are welcome. I am a Scenicruiser fan. I rode thousands of miles on those in the 1950s and 1960s. I recommend the Magix Pro 14, but watch out with Windows Vista. One of my Windows Vista PCs works with it the other doesn’t. Magix support is not great but there are many Magix users at YouTube who have great tutorials. Be sure to experiment and don’t rely too much on the built in tutorials.

Thanks for the additional info.! and I would’nt mind you sharing some of your Greyhound Scenicruiser rides some time.Ive got an old 78 rpm record of :love on a Greyhound bus by The dinning sisters I want to use in background on my next video post. Thanks again

  15. Featureman says:

The Dinning Sisters were popular at one time. Their brother Mark had the big hit “Teen Angel.” I often rode Scenicruisers when I was in the Army. Thanks.
