Depends on what youll be editing. I’d recommend Sony Vegas, but i use Adobe premiere pro, but it costs ~800$. Sony Vegas is only around 200$

Hi, Austin. im 13 and i also love to video edit. i started when i was 12 or so, and now, i have a full arsenal of great software for my MacBook Pro. im really into Visual effects (Gunshots, Lightsabers, explosions etc.) but thats just me. i don’t know what type of editing you’re into (Transition, Special effects etc.)

      heres the ones i have

Final Cut Studio (professional Mac Video editor, actually used for REAL hollywood movies =O)
Final Cut Express (Intermediate Mac Video Editor)
LiveType (comes with Final Cut Express. basic intro editor)
Adobe After Effects CS5 (Professional 3D and 2D compositing software)
Adobe Photoshop CS5 (Photo editing software i use to edit photos for stop motion movies i make)
Adobe Flash CS5 (used to make very complex professional intros for movies)
Sony Vegas 9 (Intermediate PC video editor)
Windows Movie Maker (very basic video editor. you probably already use it if you have a PC and you are just getting into video editing. i started off with it =)……)
iMovie (basic Mac video editor. comes with all new Mac’s in iLife suite.)

My Fav’s for Mac (which i mainly use)

      1. Final Cut Express 4 ($200)
      2. Adobe After Effects CS5 ($1000)
      3. 3. Final Cut Studio ($1000)

      Fav’s for PC

      1. Sony Vegas 9($200-$900 depending on version)
      2. Adobe After Effects CS5 ($1000. works with PC and Mac)
      3. Windows Movie Maker (FREE!)

im assuming you use a PC, but i’ll tell you now. if you really want to get serious about video editing, like me, you need to get a Mac. i can do things on my MacBook Pro that were previously unattainable on my Windows Vista based desktop computer. i’ve invested ALOT of my money in this hobby and i intend to make a career in it.

      Hope this helped!!!

      GOOD LUCK!

I’d like to recommend Movavi Video Suite to you, I always use it to edit video and make funny video for uploading to Youtube, it’s easy to use and the quality is awesome, you can crop, cut, join, edit video with it easily. It also embeds many special effects, you can even add text to video or add background music, that’s pretty cool. It worth a try

I think the best free video editing software is windows movie maker, but in my personal experience you may be disappointed at the output effects,Crude and simple.
I have had good success with DVD Slideshow Builder. It was easy for me to use and burn to a DVD, copy and send to my family and friends to play on any DVD player through their TV.
Everything is laid out in an easy to follow step by step instruction.
      1. Import videos, photos and background music
      2. Change transition and motion effects if required
      3. Add lyric/subtitle easily if you want to add words on video
      4. Directly burn onto DVD disc and play on TV with DVD player

      Hey Austin,

I would highly recommend trakAxPC Pro. It’s aimed at the novice user but has all the features of a professional software.

It’s a really good, user-friendly and inexpensive video editing software which allows you to edit and mix any combination of audio, video and photos. It has loads of features, plus you can upload your video directly to YouTube through the application.

You can check it out here: http://www.trakax.com

      Hope this helps.
